A need I wish to accomplish as a Senator would be to initiate more student involvement in bettering our campus. Being in Freshmen Council my peers and I are responsible for representing our entire class with little input other than our own opinions. I would like Senate to work with students to conquer small problems such as lines being too long while waiting for food and a more support in smaller student organizations. |

It is well known on campus that student government, and more specifically the Student Senate, is very apathetic about their responsibilities. Our student body deserves a leader that will stand up for change, rather than settle for less. As long as we have the same indifferent leaders in student government, long standing problems will never be addressed. Students, you deserve more, and I promise you I will break this long tradition of apathy. |

In the Student Senate, I have focused on Student Government Reform. The Student Senate, in particular, has become a joke of inactivity and unresponsiveness. The students deserve a legislature that is more effective and involved. Most students don’t know about the good work Student Government has done. If re-elected, I will continue an agenda of making Student Government more responsive to the students, while informing the students of the good work that has been done. |

I have decided to seek the position of Senator representing the College of Arts & Sciences. If elected, I would execute the duties and responsibilities of Senator to the best of my abilities. I would work cooperatively with other senators and officers to improve the bond between USC students, faculty, the community, and student government. Finally, if elected, I look forward to working with other students and addressing some of their ideas and concerns. |

If re-elected as Senator for the College of Arts and Sciences, I will continue to actively serve my constituents. I will continue to listen to their concerns, voice their opinions, act upon their desires, represent them to the fullest, and make all the difference possible for them. I will continue to make a positive difference for the University of South Carolina. |

In being a Senator and participating in school government, I would be extremely dedicated to uniting our student body. I believe it is important to have a diverse group of friends, something a lot of students miss out on. Separation amongst Greek and non-Greek, Jocks and non-Jocks, and even separation by race, is something that needs to be changed at the University. I would love to contribute to further uniting everyone at the University. |

If re-elected to Student Senate, I will continue to work for the success of the University while still keeping the individual student in mind. In the past year, I have supported more dining options, better campus safety and new transportation from campus to Five Points and the Vista. However, there is more to be done. On February 18th and 19th, re-elect me and I will continue to work for a better Carolina. |

As a Senator in Student Government and RHA, I have fought to improve services provided to all students. This year, I sponsored a resolution in each of these bodies supporting Cocky’s Caravan, a weekend night shuttle with stops in Five Points and the Vista. In another term with the Student Senate, I would work with the incoming administration to ensure that proper funding is made available to assess the effectiveness of this program. |

As the chair of the School of Arts and Sciences committee, I have worked hard to create a stronger relationship between students in our School, senators, and administration. By communicating with our dean and working on senate's first co-sponsored event for arts and science students, I have taken an active part in our student-led senate campaign. With your vote we can continue toward this goal to benefit all Arts and Science students. |

Becoming a member of Student Government is an opportunity for me to express concerns and ideas to improve various aspects of life on the campus of The University of South Carolina. One of my goals would be to improve the advisement process in the College of Arts and Science, in particular the Biology Department. This is an area that causes much stress and a few changes could help to relieve this part of academic life. |

As a Senator, I wish to bring the Carolina community together as one. One of the goals of will be to increase organized student participation at football and basketball games, as well return to old and foster new homecoming festivities that will enhance the Carolina experience for all students and successfully create "One Carolina." As a Senator, this will be one of my top priorities. Please visit my facebook group, "Alex for Student Senate." |

As a sophomore here at the University I have seen several areas that I believe should be changed. Many students, including myself, have had several different advisors in the history department. This prevents us from getting consistent advice and from getting comfortable with one faculty member that we can go to for help. I am currently already on the Student Senate and would love to have the opportunity to serve again. |

My name is Ebbie Yazdani and I am a candidate for Student Senate of our University. Some people call me the Persian Excursion. You may be wondering why. The reason is that I am a student who likes to bring about change. The change that I would bring to the Student Senate is one where the input of every student, be they involved in Student Government or not, is heard loud and clear. |
