Student
Congressional Advisory Board
The mission of the Student Congressional Advisory Board is to
communicate to the US Congress the views and interests
of USC students on those issues that are important to
them. In representing students of this state, the
Student Congressional Advisory Board incorporates the
opinions of students with efficient research to develop
recommendations to the United States Congress.
Twelve board members will be selected to serve their peers.
Board members will interview students on campus to hear
the concerns that are important to them. The members
will discuss policy issues that are of interest to
students with members of Congress. The Board will also
assist in developing an annual list of priorities and
goals for rendering advice to the US Congress. These
recommendations will be compiled into an annual report
that will be presented to our Congressmen to discuss
with other members of Congress.
The Board will occasionally meet with Congressional leaders
from our state to discuss the concerns of their peers.
The Board will also travel to DC once a year to learn
about how our government works at the National level.
During their trip, they will meet with government
officials and present their annual report to the
Congressmen.

Congressional Advisory Board Report
2005-2006 Congressional
Advisory Board Report

"Students at USC have an excellent understanding of the
issues facing our nation. As a member of the Student
Congressional Advisory Board, they’ll play an active
role in government and will be able to voice their
opinions to their representatives. When I was in
college, my experience in student government furthered
my passion for public service and I'd like to encourage
students to also take advantage of this great
opportunity. I value students’ opinion and look forward
to working with them."
Congressman Joe Wilson
Republican, 2nd District

"The Student Congressional Advisory Board is
an encouraging innovation by USC's student government.
It provides a wonderful opportunity for students to
become more engaged in the issues facing our nation and
gain a deeper understanding of the governmental
process. I look forward to interacting with my student
constituents."
Congressman Jim Clyburn
Democrat, 6th District
